Cavalier
The door opens
Human enters
Lights come in
Busy with their lives
Hope was there
For the empty seats are filled
Lights come in
Busy with their lives
Noises crack in
Talks and laughter mushroom into the air
Too loud, too noisy
Too full of themselves
The door closes
The audiences return to their nests
Darkness has never been so pleasant
but when it is compared to selfish lanterns
Think they are bright enough, only blinding
Think they sound fluty, only deafening
Earth, poor Earth, you have given so many
Saints, poor saints, you have taught compassion endlessly
The earth is too huge
They insist on playing the false protagonists
Deluded by self-superiority
in the face of others’ sufferings
